Dyashankar Tiwari Nivedan Sadar Form Hol'be Colleter 06 May 2015Nagpur: District Collector Abhishek Krishna on Wednesday ordered strictest action against SNDL employees and officials responsible for tampering of electricity feeders that led to half of the city plunging into dark. The Collector crackdown came after a BJP delegation, led by senior Corporator Dayashankar Tiwari, met him and submitted a memorandum of demands. The District Collector, having prior information about BJP delegation’s visit, had summoned Mahagenco’s Superintending Engineer Suresh Madavi for discussion.

The delegation apprised the Collector Abhishek Krishna that electric supply comes under Essential Services and by tampering with the feeders the agitating SNDL employees  tried to put law and order under stress. The students appearing for various exams and patients in hospitals were hit hard. Therefore, action against the Spanco employees should be taken under Essential Services and Maintenance Act, demanded the delegation.

Acting on the demand, the District Collector sought names of feeder-wise officials and employees and ordered action against them.

Tiwari informed the Collector that the officials of Mahagenco were restoring feeders and the employees were breaking the same feeders. The Collector directed Madavi to videograph the affected feeders and prepare panchnamas for further action. The Collector and Madavi appealed citizens and Corporators to extend cooperation to Mahagenco.

A BJP delegation will meet the Guardian Minister and demand removal of SNDL and handing over of power supply to Mahagenco. Similarly, compensation to consumers will also be demanded.

Tiwari alleged that the SNDL Administration was not interested in resolving demands of its employees through table talk. This apathetic attitude led to the untoward incident. Moreover, SNDL MD Gupta is in city but he did not feel appropriate to meet the employees.
