Chain-snatcher relieves Raipur woman of gold chains worth Rs 2.30 lakh near RTMNU Square

Nagpur: A motorcycle-borne chain-snatcher struck in a big way by relieving a Chhattisgarh-based woman of her gold chains valued at Rs 2.30 lakh. The chain-snatching occurred near busy Nagpur University Square on Tuesday morning. Cops have mounted a search to nab the mugger.

The complainant R Padmavati Srinivasrao (44), native of Sector No. 3, Ekta Nagar, Raipur (Chhattisgarh) told police that she, along with her relatives, had come to Nagpur for medical check-up. On Tuesday, around 8.15 am, R Padmavati had gone to Arneja Heart Hospital in Ramdaspeth for blood test.

After the blood test, she started going to her relatives on a two-wheeler. When R Padmavati Srinivasrao reached near Balbharti Square, an unidentified motorcyclist rider, in the age group of 25, came from behind and swiftly snatched two gold chains worth Rs 2,30,000 she was wearing and speeded away even before the woman could raise an alarm. Shocked by the road robbing, R Padmavati Srinivasrao approached Sitabuldi police and filed a complaint.

PSI D R Kandekar has booked the unidentified chain-snatcher under Section 392 of IPC and mounted a search to apprehend him.
