CA’s are very Pro-active in policy implementation of the Government – Nitin Gadkari

Nagpur: India is one of the fastest growing economies of the world. When the economy is moving at such a pace, it’s very important that proper financial planning and its management should be done which will help in getting further growth. In India, where a major population is dependent on Agriculture, it’s very important that Agricultural economy should get the required support to take it to next level.

The Government is very keen in introducing number of policies for the economy. Chartered Accountants have to play a major role in getting these policies implemented at the ground level, said Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon. Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources. He was interacting with Chartered Accountants at the National Seminar on Professional Enrichment organized by Nagpur Branch of ICAI under the aegis of Committee for Capacity Building of Members in Practice.

On this occasion he shared the various developments being taken by the Government and especially by his ministry. He informed that around 1,88,000 hectare of land is being covered under irrigation to give the maximum benefit to the farmers for which new project is being introduced. It’s very important that we should stop the water from being mixed with sea water and it should be utilized in a better manner. Various efforts are being taken to stop this water at multiple states and to utilize the same in effective manner.

Madhya Pradesh has witnessed around 23% growth in agriculture which is a very good signal for the agricultural economy of this country. It’s very important that people should take the decision to join the main stream by discharging their tax liability. We are gradually moving towards Digital Economy which will provide new boost to our economy. When more and more people will have the commitment to do so, it will automatically reduce the burden and will eventually reduce the tax rates. Our Country has witnessed a major taxation reforms in the form of Goods & Services Tax (GST). He expressed his happiness that Chartered Accountants have taken many initiatives in creating awareness about the law. Though in the initial phase, there are few barriers in its implementation, but with time to come all such problems will be solved and GST will give the maximum benefits to the masses and provide ease to the Trade & Industry. Government is considering the proposals received from various agencies and trying hard to resolve the issues being faced at the ground level. Various reforms are being introduced to strengthen the economy of our country and to make it beneficial in true sense. It’s important that fast track decision mechanism should be introduced for which efforts are being put. Chartered Accountants have played a big role in past and will have to continue with the new pace in future as well. On this occasion he also conveyed his best wishes to the fraternity.

CA. Julfesh Shah, Member of PR & CSR Committee of ICAI mentioned that Shri Nitin Gadkari has lot of affection for the Chartered Accountants fraternity and he always shares his thoughts and always motivate the fraternity. He added that Shri Gadkariji is taking wonderful initiatives for the country and with his broad vision and innovative ideas, our economy will witness and new phase in times to come. The GST Seva Kendra, that was inaugurated at the hands of Shri Nitinji that too on his Birthday by Nagpur Branch of ICAI, was really beneficial for the common public. Our members have worked day and night for providing all necessary support in GST implementation.

Earlier, Chairman of Nagpur Branch CA. Sandeep Jotwani in his welcome address mentioned that this year was very challenging for the Chartered Accountants as there were various new laws being introduced in our country. It all started with GAAR, RERA and then finally we witnessed Goods & Services Tax (GST) on 01st July which is again a Chartered Accountants Day. It was a big task in not only understanding the provisions of this law but also to explain the provisions to the trade & Industry and to create necessary awareness at the grass root level. He informed that number of programs was organized by the Institute in support of these major Government initiatives. From time to time necessary suggestions were given by our institute and were duly considered which is a very good sign. For the development of region, there can be multiple new things that can be done and for that he assured to provide all possible support from the Chartered Accountants fraternity.

Central Council Member CA. Rajesh Sharma from New Delhi as well as CA. Anil Bhandari from Mumbai were also present on this occasion. They have also informed about the various initiatives being taken by the Institute at the Central Level for the benefit of Members and Students.
