Nagpur: A 21-year old call centre employee was raped by a gang of 3-4 men. The shocking part of the heinous incident is that three friends of the girl played a nasty role in “facilitating” the gang-rape. Two accused friends of the girl have been arrested while two other accused have gone absconding and are being hunted.
According to details, the victimised girl hailed from a poor family. She has three elder sisters. Being financially weak, the parents were finding it difficult to sustain the livelihood. But still the victim completed her B.Com and got employed at the call centre recently. She was befriended by a girl named Supriya (name changed) at the call centre. Being needy, the friend Supriya offered her shelter at her place albeit with evil designs in her mind. Another girl named Leena was also staying with Supriya.
However, after a few days, the victimised girl started feeling ‘uneasy’ in the company of her ‘friends’ and decided to leave the place. But before she could move out, Supriya, Leena and one more friend carried out the evil design. On September 19, the three “friends” offered the call centre employee cold drink spiked with sedatives that knocked her unconscious. According to plan, a man raped the girl at the behest of the three friends. However, the victim girl suspects that she was raped by 3-4 men on that day. After gaining consciousness, the girl thought of approaching the police but was reportedly threatened of dire consequences by her three “friends.”
However, after undergoing the ordeal for a week, the victim girl finally decided to approach police. On Sunday (September 24), she went to Hudkeshwar Police Station and registered a case in this regard. Acting on her complaint, the cops placed Supriya and Leena under arrest and mounted a hunt to nab two other accused who have gone absconding.
