British era “Old Gorewada WTP” to be decommissioned from July 29

Almost a century old British era Water Treatment plant located near Gorewada Lake, popularly known as “Old Gorewada” WTP shall be decommissioned from 1000hrs on Saturday 29th July, 2017.

It was exactly 105 years ago, in 1912, Gorewada Lake and Old Gorewada Water Treatment Plant (WTP) at lake premises was developed as the primary drinking water source for Nagpur city’s the then population.

Water supply from the Gorewada Lake started in 1912 and continues to this day. Even the embankment, pumping station, filter plant and service reservoirs are all in service and in good condition and still providing 16 MLD water every day to many areas in West Nagpur.

It may be mentioned here the areas which were supplied water from Old Gorewada WTP shall continue to receive water at comparatively low pressure and for limited period for about one week.

During one week transformation period the augmentation work of Pench-2 WTP shall be carried out and then the affected areas shall receive normal water supply.

The residents are requested to co-operate during this one week transformation period.

The areas which will remain affected (Low pressure and limited water supply for water supply during this period are:

Dabha ESR : Dabha, Dhaba Basti, Ashadeep,Society, Govt.Press Society, Income Tax Colony, Thakre Layout, Bhivsankhori(Slum), Gautam Nagar, Hajari Pahad, Preeti Society, Santhkrupa Society, Sabena Society, Neelkanth Society, Ganga Nagar(Slum), Jagdish Nagar (Slum), KGN Society, Makardhokda.

Tekdi Wadi ESR: Tekdi wadi,Sai Nagar,Vaibhav Nagar,Sariputra Nagar,Vaishnomata Nagar, Panchsheel Nagar , Katiyabhandar, Gorewada village Main supply line : Panchshil Nagar, Azad Nagar, Manavta Nagar, Gawlipura, Dashrath Nagar, Sheela Nagar, Gorewada village.
