IMG_3854Nagpur: Anti Corruption Bureau on Wednesday sought one day custody remand for arrested Panchpaoli Police Sub Inspector Manish Gawande who tried to shoot self on being caught negotiating for bribe of Rs 4000 at his home. Gawande was arrested and taken to Hyderabad House in Civil Lines for interrogation. Gawande was later produced before the court which sent him to one day PCR.

It is learnt that ACB was also looking into alleged role of Constable Praveen Jambhulkar and Assistant Sub Inspector Ulhas Pawar. ACB has also registered case against Jambhulkar and Pawar along with Gawande, however, the two were not arrested yet.

It may be noted that that Panchpaoli police had raided at Royal Diwate Saoji owned by Ashish Diwate for illegally allowing liquor consumption at the eatery. Constable Jambhulkar then allegedly got Diwate to meet PSI Gawande and ASI Pawar who were said to have demanded Rs 4000 monthly to allow Diwate to go smooth in his business. Later Diwate approached ACB and complained about the matter.

ACB sleuths then laid a trap on Wednesday and traced Gawande negotiating over alleged kickback at his house.
