While peace reigned in the country till President of USA Barack Obama was present. However, immediately on the eve of his departure our evil neighbor resumes their attacks. President Obama left for Saudi Arabia at 1:55 pm on January 27, 2015 to pay his respects and condolence to the family of King of Saudi Arabia Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
On the very day that President Obama was inspecting our Republic Day parade in Delhi there were incidents of incursions, attacks on our border posts and dead bodies of our Army personnel were piling up in Jammu and Kashmir again.
Defense spokesman claim that Commanding Officer of 42 Rashtriya Rifles Colonel M M Rai, and a policeman were killed in the gun battle at Mindora village of Tral, 36km from Srinagar. What is saddening is that Colonel Rai was among the Gallantry Medal Awardees announced on the eve of Republic Day. He was awarded the Yudh Seva Medal for his role in a gun battle with militants in south Kashmir just last year.
Sources added that the Colonel and the constable were airlifted to Badamibagh based 92 Base Hospital in a critical condition. However, both Colonel M M Rai and Constable Singh succumbed to their injuries.
Army spokesperson said that two militants, both locals, were also killed in the operation which left a soldier seriously injured. The encounter broke out on Tuesday when the police assisted by Rashtriya Rifles of the army launched an operation after getting a tip off that a local Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant along with another accomplices had come home.
The slain militants have been identified as Adil Khan, a local resident of Mindora, and Shiraz Dar. Both were with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit, police said.
