Bharatiya Janata Party’s Pravin Prabhakar Datke on Monday filed his papers for the post of Mayor while Munna (Ganesh) Ramanna Pokulwar filed his papers for post of Deputy Mayor. Both Datke and Pokulwar submitted their papers to Municipal Secretary Harish Dubey at NMC’s Central Office Secretariate in Civil Lines. Harish Dubey is also the Designated Election Officer.
Pravin Datke of Nagpur Vikas Aghadi (a combine of BJP-Shiv Sena-Independents) has filed four sets of papers for Mayor’s post. Similarly, Arun Davre of Congress and Harshala Sanjay Jaiswal of BSP filed their papers for the post of Mayor in two sets each.
Apart from BJP-supported Munna Pokulwar, who has filed his papers for Deputy Mayor’s post in four sets, Sujata Vitthalrao Kombade of Congress and Shabana Parvin Mohammed Jamal of BSP too have filed their papers for the post in three sets each. Moreover, NCP’s Raju Nagulwar has also filed his papers for Deputy Mayor’s post.
The Designated Election Officer Harish Dubey will scrutinize the papers on September 5 and also announce the names of candidates who withdraw their candidatures from the fray. Elections to the posts, if necessary, will be held on the same.
