The rumored de-recognition of CBSE course from Bishop Cotton School turned out to be false as the Principal of the school’s primary division Lilian Makasare came clear with her share of story. She also presented documents in support of her claim that no NOC is required for any school to run under both CBSE and State Boards, which was the case in point. She claimed that under the new amendment of the Circular No 3.3 (1) dated June 28, 2013, the school does not need any NOC for running school under both the boards. She claimed that she already has the registration number and a few documents are in the pipe-line. She even alleged that the school authorities were being unnecessary harassed by Zilla Parishad’s Education officials who allegedly demanded huge amount of money to issue NOC in this regard.
Talking to Nagpur Today, Lilian Makasare said that the Education Department visited the school on Saturday. They checked many documents and after checking, they went back and asked the Education Officer Lalit Ramteke to issue a letter directing the school to close the CBSE classes from the school.
Separate classes for CBSE, State Board
Makasare claimed that the allegation made by the officials of Education Department of Zilla Parishad was totally false and baseless. She said that Education Department had alleged that the students of CBSE and State Board are studying in the same class. However she claimed that they have different floors for the State and the CBSE Board. While the State Board students study on the ground floor, the classes for CBSE Board are being conducted on the first floor.
Officials applied pressure tactics to squeeze money
She alleged that many touts and officials of Zilla Parishad Education office have been calling her or visiting her claiming to get an NOC to run both the boards within 2 days. They have been demanding huge sums ranging from Rs 2 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs for the NOC. She added that she is being pressurized under some education officials who have some grudge against the school and her personally. Makasare said that she has got the CBSE Registration (registration No MS-823-1516).
Acting on whims and fancies
The Education Department officials had allegedly served a closure notice to the Primary Division of Bishop Cotton School from holding CBSE curriculum classes in their school without due permissions.
The Education Department Officials of Zilla Parishad had visited the school on July 17, 2014. During their visit, they had made a point wise enquiry into the various lacunae.
* According to the report, the Primary Division of the Bishop Cotton School does not have due permissions to run a CBSE Curriculum based School, yet they are running the school from Class 1 to class VIth.

* To the second point of enquiry whether the school issues Fees Receipt to their students? Yes. They do give the Fees Receipt to the students.
* To the third point if an Assessment was conducted by the Education office? Yes. There was an Assessment conducted.
* To the fourth point, as to which books were issued to the school by the Zilla Parishad Education Office? They have received both State Board and CBSE Books.
* To the fifth point, if the School administration has fulfilled all the Physical and Infrastructural facilities? The Education office found the following
- There are 2 sizes of the class-rooms a) 7.80 X 6.70 Square Meters and b) 6.30 X 9.80 Square Meters.
- There are four toilets
- They have a big play ground admeasuring 18000 Square Meters
- They have a library with 500 books.
- There is no ramp for Physically Challenged
- There is an attached Kitchen Shed.
- They have 4 Fire Extinguishers
- They have a big Compound Wall.
This act of the Education Department points out to the rampant corruption that goes on there. Sources among teachers also said that they demand Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lack to get them regularized.
