For quite some time, Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has been contemplating on IT reforms on its end with improvement in the examination process being one of them. In this regard, a workshop on exam reforms by Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary of Information Technology & Chairman of Examination Reforms Committee was held on May 17, 2014 in Nagpur.

Some of the reforms expected were in the form of online admission cards, printing of question paper 30 minutes before the exam, bar codes on answer sheets, digitalized evaluation of answer sheets, online screening of answer sheets, online submission of revaluation,   online information for students, CCTV cameras and biometric process.

In the summer examination of 2014, the bar codes on answers sheets were introduced. However, the university did not get the scanners for scanning the answer sheets.  According to information, the winter examination 2014 will be starting in October. However, with the absence of scanning machine, whether the bar codes in the answer sheets will be there, is question.

RTMNU, in its initiative to improve the examination process, had planned to implement the recommendations of Rajesh Agrawal Committee. It was a long  awaited decision and Acting Vice Chancellor  Anoop Kumar  had given  impetus to it by introducing a special post of Director, Exam Reforms.
