Auditorium with a capacity of 1500 seats to be constructed in city in a year: Anup Kumar

Nagpur: An auditorium with a capacity of 1500 seats is slated to be built in Nagpur by next year claimed Nagpur Divisional Commissioner Anup Kumar. Anup Kumar was speaking at the concluding function of the “Kalarang” festival, the first professional theater festival in Nagpur.

The festival concluded with the staging of the all-time classic “Sangeet Sanshaykallol.” Anup Kumar said the site for the auditorium had also been finalized. The announcement came on the background of the fact that at the inauguration of the festival, Noted Actor Prashant Damle had bemoaned the lack of good auditoriums in Nagpur. The announcement brought reassurance for theater artistes as well as theater-lovers.

Speaking at the concluding function, Anup Kumar commended the organizers of the Kalarang festival and gave them good wishes for future projects. On the occasion Noted Actor Prashant Damle praised the organizers of the festival Deepak Gadge and Sandeep Baraskar. He commended them for the disciplined manner in which the festival was held and the large attendance at all the six plays. The large number of artistes and audience who attended the festival were not put to inconvenience, Damle said.

On the occasion, Rahul Deshpande was felicitated at the hands of Deepak Gadge and Prashant Damle was felicitated at the hands of Sandip Baraskar. Special felicitation was given to Saurabh Mukherjee for his efforts to ensure that the festival went off smoothly. Asawari Galade conducted the proceedings of the concluding function.

The festival was inaugurated on November 11, 2016 by Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis. The following four days proved to be a real treat for theater-lovers with excellent plays being staged. The audience responded enthusiastically and expressed hope that the project continues like this only.
