In the Assembly, Shiv Sena’s MLA from Kolhapur Dr Sujit Manshekar, Rajesh Kshirsagar, Prakash Surve, Ulhasdada Patil, demanded discussion for reservation to Marathas as soon as the House assembled on second day of Winter Session. However, as the House was discussing the issues of farmers, the Speaker rejected the demand. Enraged by rejection of their demand, the MLAs walked out of the House and started a token hunger strike at the stairs of Vidhan Sabha.

Currently, the State Government has decided to challenge the Bombay High Court ruling regarding reservation to Maratha community in Supreme Court. However, the government has not initiated any steps till to date. The government should take serious note of reservation to Marathas and challenge the High Court ruling in the apex court as soon as possible, the MLAs demanded.
