Nagpur: Established on 4th August, 1923 Nagpur University now known as “Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University” celebrated its 91st foundation day at a function organized at Guru Nanak Bhavan today on Tuesday August 4.
Eminent Personalities, former Vice Chancellors, Principals of various colleges, University staff, Teachers and former staff and students of the University gathered in large numbers on this occasion.
In the Programme the University conferred its top award, the Prestigious Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj ‘Jeevan Sadhana Puruskar’ to Renowned and distinguished Personalities for their life long contribution to society with their achievements.
At the function Awards for ideal Principal, Teacher and Best students were also given by the Vice-chancellor Dr S P Kane.Non Teaching Staff of RTMNU for their outstanding work and contribution were also felicitated in the function. Former Vice Chancellors of RTMNU were also Felicitated.
Chief Guest of the Function, Indian Economist and a Rajya Sabha member Dr. Bhalchandra Mungekar enlightened the gathering with his thought provoking words and spoke on the importance of good education and value. “Education is going to take our country ahead. We need to identify the talent in the students”. He particularly said learn by brains and not by marks. Put your hearts into the subjects.
Dr S.P Kane, RTMNU VC while speaking on the occasion emphasised on doing our duty and responsibly and contributing in building the organisation. He spoke about the Vision document of the University.
Among other, Dr. Purnchand Meshram, Dr. Pramod Yeole, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Vedprakash Mishra were
also present as Guest of Honour on this occasion.
