The kingpin of land mafia Dilip Gwalvanshi and his henchmen continue to grab headlines as four more offences of extortion and land grab were registered by Koradi and Mankapur police on Tuesday.

In the fresh incident, a resident of Quart No A/11, JSW Colony, Kalmeshwar, Pramod Ramchandra Mishra (48) told police that he had purchased a plot No. 30 at Survey No 110, Zingabai Takli, in 2008. In December last year, he was approached by Dilip Gwalvanshi, Jitu Anthony, Pappu Yadav, Chhote Gendlal Naidu, and 10- 15 others at Nasheman Housing Society, behind Wox Cooler Factory. They prevented him from visiting his plot. Gwalbansi took out a pistol. Pointing the pistol at Mishra, Gwalbansi allegedly demanded Rs two lakh for allowing him to visit the plot. Following Mishra’s complaint, Koradi Police registered an offence under Sections 341, 384, 387,506(2),34 of the IPC, read with Sub-Sections 3+25 and 3+27 of the Arms Act against Gwalvanshi, Anthony, Yadav, Naidu and others.

Similarly, Mankapur police registered three separate offences against Gwalvanshi and his gang under Sections 341, 352, 504, 506, 34 of the IPC, read with sections 3(1), 5 and 15 of Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act following complaints lodged by their victims Maya Janardan Pakhitte, retired policeman Manohar Deudkar and Kewaldas Jamgade. A few days ago, Gwalvanshi and former Corporator Rajesh Matey were arrested for abetting suicide of Bhupesh Sontakke (42) and were remanded to police custody. Sontakke had taken the extreme step by hanging in a gymnasium at MB Town in October last year. After issuing threats to Sontakke, Gwalvanshi and Matey had forced him to sign a mutual agreement towards sale of a piece of land worth crores of rupees only for Rs 1.50 lakh. On the basis of the suicide note left by Sontakke and complaint lodged by the deceased’s sister, cops had arrested them.

Gittikhadan Police too had registered an offence against Gwalvanshi and his gang for grabbing 1.5 acre land worth crores of rupees belonging Rukhmai Gajanan Vaidya (60) by threatening to kill her and her son. Gwalvanshi and his accomplices forged the documents of 1.5 acre land 60 RC (Survey No. 102, Mouza Pipla Riti Kalmeshwar) and grabbed it allegedly in return of Rs 10,000 loan given to the mother-son duo between January 1, 2007 and May 31, 2016.
