4 bogus cops trick & rob two aged men of gold booty worth Rs 97,000

Nagpur: Four dubious persons, posing as “policemen” tricked and robbed two aged men of their gold rings and chain collectively worth Rs 97,000 in separate incidents.

In the first incident, Vallabhchand Bhikchand Rathi (80), resident of LIG Colony, Hasanbagh Road, going towards Nandanvan Canal Road walking around 9.30 am on Saturday. When he reached in front of Amol Building, two unidentified motorcycle borne persons, in the age group of 35-40 years, came near him and told him that they were “policemen.” The two bogus cops scared Vallabhchand by telling him that robbing takes place in the area and he should hand over gold rings to them. The fake policemen took the gold rings worth Rs 29,000 from Vallabhchand and pretending to be keeping them in a handkerchief pocketed the booty. They returned an empty handkerchief to the aged man and vanished from the scene.

Similarly, the same two bogus cops or other tricksters targeted a 67-year old man in Ajni area. Sevakchandra Dagduji Dohe, resident of Suyog Nagar, was going towards Indrayani TVS Showroom around 9 am on Saturday. At the same time, two tricksters posing as CID Police stopped Sevakchandra and told him that they were investigating a theft case occurred earlier. With these words, the two bogus CID policemen took gold chain and two gold rings from Sevakchandra for safety reasons and then vanished from the scene.

Nandanvan and Ajni police have registered cases against the four bogus policemen under Sections 170, 420, 34 of IPC and mounted a hunt to nab them.
