Nagpur: In an audacious daylight robbery, four motorcycle-borne goons looted a cattle trader of Rs 8.50 lakh in Pachpaoli area here on Tuesday. A manhunt has been launched to nab the robbers.

A resident of Nai Basti, Teka, Fayyaz Qureshi Abdul Rahman Qureshi (32), who deals in buffalo trading, had gone to IDBI Bank, Civil Lines, to withdraw cash from his account around 3 pm on Tuesday. After withdrawing Rs 8.50 lakh cash, he kept it in the utility box of his Honda Activa. As he reached his house around 3.15pm and was parking his Activa (MH-31/CD-4407), four men came on two motorcycles — a Bajaj Avenger and Bajaj Pulsar — and engaged him in talks on the pretext of asking where is Maroti Square. By distracting his attention, one of them opened the utility box of his Activa and stealthily removed the cash. The robbers then boarded their bikes and sped away. When Fayyaz opened the utility box of his vehicle, he was shocked to find the cash stolen.

Fayyaz immediately contacted Control Room and informed the cops about the incident. Staff from Pachpaoli Police rushed to the spot soon after receiving wireless message from Control Room Officer. After collecting details from Fayyaz, cops alerted all police stations. Police are trying to procure footage of CCTV cameras installed at some nearby buildings in the area as well as CCTV footage at the IDBI Bank to identity the culprits.

Pachpaoli PSI Mokase has registered a case under Sections 379, 34 of the IPC.
