4 armed goons attempt to kill traffic cop on duty, arrested

Nagpur: Four armed persons were arrested on the charges of attempt to kill a traffic policeman on duty at Futala Lake here on Wednesday evening. The four accused also pulled down two-wheelers, seized for haphazard parking on the road, from police vehicle.

According to police, the Constable Ambadas Baburao Jadhav (29), attached to West Zone Traffic Branch, was performing duty near Babbu Hotel on Futala Road around 6.30 pm on Wednesday. The traffic police had seized some two-wheelers parked haphazardly on the road.

At the same time, the four accused Prakash Madan Shrivas (23), Ritesh Ramesh Chaudhari (19), both residents of Birsa Munda Square, Futala Lake, Rajkumar Lalaji Shahu (28), resident of Futala Lake, and Anil Raju Samudre (20) of Pankajnagar, arrived at the spot and started pulling down the two-wheelers from police van (MH-31/DS 3003). When the Traffic Police Constable Ambadas Jadhav tried to control the rampaging accused, they crashed a heavy stone on his head with the motive of killing the cop. Moreover, one of the accused wielded sword.

Based on a complaint filed by Ambadas Jadhav, Ambazari Lady PSI Waghmare booked the four accused under Sections 307, 353, 294, 34 of IPC read with Sub-Section 4+24 of Arms Act and placed them under arrest. Further probe is underway.
