Nagpur: The Anti-Narcotics Cell of city Crime Branch on Monday seized 314 kg of ganja from Koradi police jurisdiction and from other areas. The worth of the seized stuff is Rs 31.45 lakh.
The NDPS squad received a tip off that an Eicher truck was carrying narcotics and was proceedings towards outskirts of the city. Subsequently, the cops kept a watch on the said truck. The cops stopped the truck (HR-69/3790) under Koradi Police jurisdiction and checked it. However, the cops could not find the narcotics in the truck but a strong smell of ganja was emanating from the truck. The sleuths found that the rear platform of the truck was altered and large coupes prepared. Cops again searched the coupes and found 314 kg of ganja stocked in plastic bags. The ganja worth Rs 31.45 lakh along with the truck worth Rs 8 lakh was seized by the cops.
An offence under Sections 20, 29 of NDPS Act was registered at Koradi Police Station.
The task was carried out by Senior PI Rajendra Nikam, API Dilip Chandan, constables Datta Bagul, Pravin Fandade, Ramesh Umathe, NPCs Tulshidas Shukla, Nitin Rangne, Kishore Mahant, Satish Patil, Nitin Salunke, Naresh Shingne, Rubina Sheikh under the guidance of CP Dr K Venkatesham, Joint CP Shivaji Bodkhe, DCP Sambhaji Kadam, and ACP Somnath Waghchaure.
