While one theory said that the car was being driven at a speed of 150-160 kmph and the driver lost control over the car, and when the driver applied the brakes, the car swerved and rammed into a tree hit opposite to LIT gate. The car was practically wrapped around the tree, causing instant death to the youth sitting in the seat next to the driver and the girl was sitting behind him. The youth who were sitting on the right side escaped death but are said to be critically injured. Some policemen, who were on the night duty, said that one of the legs of the victims could not be located so far. However prima-facie it appears as if it is just a case of speeding and not due to the influence of alcohol.

Only after the post-mortem can it be stated if there was alcohol involved in the cause of death.

The deceased girl is said to be from Hyderabad and her family has been informed. The entire staff of Vincent Palloti College of Engineering swung into action right from the time they came to know of the mishap and were said to be providing all the support to the police.
