2 men forge ration cards, avail benefits of Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayi Yojana

Dhantoli police have booked two persons on the charges of preparing bogus ration cards and availing benefits under Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayi Yojana meant for poor people. The accused are Riyaz Ahmed Abdul Raza Ali and Ajmal Ahmed (35), residents of Ramai Nagar, Nari Road.

The two accused allegedly prepared forged ration cards between December 2 and 17, 2014 and showed their family income as Rs 18,000 per year. On the basis of forged ration cards, the accused Riyaz Ahmed underwent heart bypass surgery at Dhantoli-based Crescent Hospital and Heart Care Centre as beneficiary of Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayi Yojana. The accused got approved an amount of Rs 1.27 lakh under the scheme. However, the forgery came to the notice of the hospital and subsequently, Mohammed Pervez of the Heart Care Centre registered a case with Dhantoli police in this regard.

Dhantoli police, based on the complaint, booked the two accused Riyaz Ahmed Abdul Raza Ali and Ajmal Ahmed under relevant sections for forgery and cheating and investigating the matter further.
